Daily Art Journal, June 2011
I did a 30-day art journalling challenge. Here’s a selection of my favorite entries.
Day 4: My Job
I love how this one came together. It was inspired by all the random stuff I get to do at my job, in particular that day, where I got to hang up vinyl circles all over the walls of one of our experiment rooms in order to make it more “child friendly” and less like an office. And, the barber chair I ordered arrived. That’s for our other children’s study.
Day 9: Medical Center
My inspiration: there is an amazing building at the Medical Center on campus that is made up of many versions of the above pattern. I made a quick stencil and cut out the repeated motif, then played around by filling in select parts of it.
Day 13: Pescadero
Inspired by a picture I took of the coast while driving down Highway 1.
Day 22: Jumper Cables
I attempted to help someone jump start their car today… unsuccessfully. My loose interpretation of what’s under a car’s hood in felt.
Day 23: Headcam
Another aspect of my job is charming babies to wear a camera on their head. Today I was behind the scenes doing the video/audio monitoring while one of our interns tried to teach him words for novel toys.
Clearly I could use a lesson in figure drawing and anatomy, but I like this one.
