Modular origami in cloth – can it be done? I decided to start with Mette Rings since they are flat and therefore would also be easy to iron creases. I went large because small things are close to impossible to fold when the material is soft. My result was the ~3.5″ diameter mette ring.
I made this by cutting out squares 3″ on a side. Didn’t use any starch on this attempt – the steam from the iron kept the folds pretty crisp. The hardest part was getting those last two corner tucks of each piece to stay, and assembling all the pieces. The pink cloth was a lot softer than the teal so it was a bit harder to work with. Next time, I’m going to try starch. It’s pretty thick and puffy – about half an inch.
