Bacon Bombing: An Appetizer

I’ve been playing around with the idea of “throwies” for some time. I wanted to do a month-long throwie project but instead of sticking to LEDs, I wanted to attached magnets to a variety of handmade things and throw them on buildings. 🙂

The idea of bacon came to me while riding the Caltrain home one day; I overheard a conversation between two girls about a dinner which ended in “Bacon makes everything better”. Truer words have never been spoken. Bacon is delicious. But does that phrase have to be limited to food? I don’t think so. And thus, the Bacon Improvement Project (pending a better name) was born.

Just think of all the things bacon can improve! Mostly, I think of Caltrain stations… The bacon below is currently improving my morning commute.

Finding magnetic metal is actually a lot harder than it looks. I had such grand ideas for where to throw my bacon… but it turns out signs and many structures, although metal, are just not magnetic. (It was awkward, and I learned it the hard way.) I did so many test throws before finally just placing this bacon on a bolt on the sign. I’m going to have to do a scouting party before my actual bacon bombing expedition.
