Yarn Bombing: Needlepoint Medallions!

posted in: Embroidery, Yarnbombing | 0

Last Saturday was International Yarn Bombing day. Yarn bombing is typically when people knit or crochet pieces to add color to a public space. I just recently learned how to knit and didn’t feel like my skills were up the challenge of creating something fun for IYBD, so I ended up needlepointing little canvases and zip-tying them up around downtown Sunnyvale and the Caltrain station. I chose to do it this Saturday morning (5am!) so that they would be up for the farmer’s market later that morning.

Some of my favorite images are in the silder above. And for fun, here is a link to a local Bay Area yarn-bomber, Streetcolor. I’ve seen her stuff around Berkeley and campus.
